Two WASA Workers Die During Sewer Cleaning Operation in Vehari
Two Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) workers lost their lives during a sewer line cleaning operation in Vehari district, Punjab, according to rescue officials.
The incident occurred near the Old Lorry Adda area, where the workers were carrying out maintenance work on a main sewer line.
Incident Under Investigation
According to initial reports, the two workers entered the manhole during the cleaning operation. Authorities said the workers were reportedly using a rope and did not have the required safety equipment at the time of the incident.
Officials stated that the rope is believed to have slipped during the operation, causing both workers to fall into the sewer.
Rescue Teams Recover the Bodies
Rescue personnel responded to the scene and recovered the bodies before transferring them to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital to complete the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
Authorities confirmed that both workers were residents of Khanewal district.
