Xiaomi Reportedly Testing New Two-Door Electric Sports Car in China
Xiaomi appears to be expanding its electric vehicle lineup after a heavily camouflaged two-door sports car prototype was recently spotted undergoing road testing in China.
While the company has not officially confirmed the vehicle, its overall styling and several design elements have led industry observers to believe it is an upcoming Xiaomi electric sports coupe.
Design Inspired by Existing Xiaomi EVs
The prototype features a low-slung body, a sleek roofline, and a full-width rear light bar that resembles the design language seen on the Xiaomi SU7 sedan.
Its overall appearance also shares similarities with Xiaomi’s Vision GT concept, suggesting that some of the concept’s styling cues may have influenced the new vehicle.
Although reports have linked the model to the possible Xiaomi GT name, the company has not confirmed the vehicle’s official name.
Performance-Oriented Exterior
The test vehicle includes several features commonly found on high-performance sports cars, including:
- A large fixed rear wing
- A pronounced rear diffuser for improved aerodynamics
- Multi-spoke alloy wheels
- Large performance brake calipers
These design elements indicate that the model may be aimed at enthusiasts seeking a track-capable electric sports car.
Powertrain Details Yet to Be Confirmed
Xiaomi has not released any official specifications for the prototype.
However, industry reports suggest the coupe could feature one of the company’s advanced electric powertrain systems. Previous Xiaomi demonstrations have showcased high-output multi-motor technology designed for performance-focused vehicles, although it remains unclear whether that system will be used in this model.
The company has not confirmed the vehicle’s horsepower, battery capacity, driving range, or acceleration figures.
Advanced Chassis Technology
Reports also suggest the new sports coupe could benefit from Xiaomi’s latest intelligent chassis technologies.
These systems may include electronically controlled suspension, advanced traction management, and steer-by-wire technology designed to improve handling, stability, and overall driving dynamics.
If introduced in the production model, these features would support both everyday driving and high-performance use.
Enhanced Cooling for High Performance
High-performance electric vehicles require efficient thermal management to maintain consistent performance.
The upcoming coupe is expected to feature an upgraded battery and motor cooling system designed to support sustained driving under demanding conditions, though Xiaomi has not officially confirmed these details.
Expected Position in Xiaomi’s EV Lineup
The new sports coupe is widely expected to sit above the SU7 Ultra as Xiaomi’s flagship performance electric vehicle.
The company continues to expand its electric vehicle business and has also indicated plans to begin selling its EVs outside China during the second half of 2027, with an initial focus on selected European markets.
At this stage, Xiaomi has not announced the vehicle’s official name, launch date, pricing, or production specifications. More details are expected once the company formally unveils the model.
