Ricky Ponting rules out England coaching role.

Ricky Ponting has confirmed that he is not interested in the vacant role of England’s white-ball coach, as he focuses on other commitments and future coaching opportunities.

Despite recent speculation linking him to the position after Matthew Mott’s departure, the former Australian cricket captain has stated that international coaching is not a priority for him at the moment.

In an interview on The ICC Review, Ponting explained that the demands of an international coaching job do not fit with his current lifestyle.

“I wouldn’t consider that role,” Ponting said regarding the England position. “International coaching demands a lot of time, and right now, my commitments, including TV work and spending more time at home, take precedence.”

Ponting, who recently finished a seven-year tenure with the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL), expressed a desire to return to coaching in the IPL. He also highlighted his successful coaching experiences, including leading the Washington Freedom to victory in Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA.

“I’d love to coach again in the IPL,” Ponting added.
