Venezuela’s Men’s Softball World Champions Named Flag Bearers for The World Games 2025
CARACAS, Venezuela — August 1, 2025: In a proud moment for Venezuelan sports, the Men’s National Softball Team, reigning world champions, have been officially named the flag bearers for The World Games 2025 in Chengdu, China.
🎖️ National Honor Bestowed at Official Ceremony
The prestigious flag presentation ceremony was held at Simón Bolívar Hall in Caracas and was led by Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, alongside María Soto, President of the Venezuelan Olympic Committee, and Franklin Cardillo, Minister of Popular Power for Sports.
“Sport is, by excellence, an act of honour… today you carry this flag in your hearts,” said Vice President Rodríguez in a moving address.
🏆 Led by Team Captain Rafael Flores
Team captain Rafael Flores, who accepted the national flag on behalf of his team, expressed immense pride and determination:
“This team is coming strong and we’re definitely going for that gold medal.”
Joining the men’s team as a female flag bearer is Luisaigna Campos Blanco, Venezuela’s 2024 Combat Sambo world champion in the 54kg category.
🥎 Softball Champions Set for Chengdu Glory
Venezuela’s men’s softball team earned their place in the history books on July 13, defeating New Zealand 3-0 in the WBSC Men’s Softball World Cup 2024/2025 final, securing the country’s first-ever softball world title.

At The World Games 2025, Venezuela will compete in Group A alongside Argentina, Czechia, and Japan. The top two teams will advance to the semifinals, and the highly anticipated gold medal match is scheduled for August 10.
