Sindh Unveils Plans for New Deep-Sea Port and AI Data Centers to Attract Investment
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has invited Indonesian businesses to invest in the province, highlighting new opportunities in infrastructure, logistics, renewable energy, information technology, manufacturing, and agriculture.
Speaking after attending the Indonesia-Pakistan Investment and Business Forum, the chief minister said the provincial government is working to attract more foreign investment through development projects, business-friendly policies, and improved investor services.
New Deep-Sea Port Planned at Keti Bandar
Murad Ali Shah announced that the Sindh government is planning to develop a new deep-sea port at Keti Bandar, describing the project as a major step toward expanding trade, logistics, and maritime commerce.
He said the proposed port could strengthen Sindh’s position as a regional trade hub and create new economic opportunities for businesses and investors.
AI Data Centers Part of Digital Growth Strategy
The chief minister also revealed plans to establish AI-enabled data centers powered by affordable and sustainable energy.
According to Shah, digital transformation is a key part of Sindh’s long-term economic strategy, with investments in technology expected to support innovation and business growth.
Investment Facilitation Center to Be Established
To improve the investment process, the provincial government plans to launch a Sindh International Facilitation Centre in Karachi.
The center will be designed to simplify procedures and provide support for both local and international investors looking to establish or expand businesses in the province.
Focus on Key Economic Sectors
Murad Ali Shah said Sindh remains Pakistan’s economic center due to Karachi’s ports, industrial zones, financial institutions, and extensive trade network.
He highlighted investment opportunities in several sectors, including:
- Renewable energy, including solar and wind power
- Agriculture and food processing
- Information technology
- Pharmaceuticals
- Manufacturing
- Value-added industries
He added that the provincial government is committed to improving governance, expanding infrastructure, enhancing digital services, and creating a more business-friendly environment.
Strengthening Pakistan-Indonesia Economic Relations
Addressing the forum, the chief minister thanked Indonesian Consul General Mudzakir and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) for organizing the event.
He said Pakistan and Indonesia share long-standing friendly relations and expressed confidence that stronger economic cooperation would further strengthen bilateral ties.
Murad Ali Shah also welcomed ongoing discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between the two countries, saying the agreement could help increase trade, encourage investment, and reduce barriers for businesses.
He encouraged entrepreneurs and investors from Pakistan and Indonesia to build stronger business partnerships, explore joint ventures, and identify new opportunities for collaboration.
The chief minister assured Indonesian investors that the Sindh government would provide full support and facilitation for investment projects aimed at promoting sustainable economic growth in the province.
