Petrol Price Drops for First Time Since September in Pakistan

Pakistan’s petrol price has fallen slightly for the first time in weeks, while diesel has become more expensive under the government’s latest fuel price revision.

According to the latest update from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), petrol prices have been reduced by Rs. 0.66 per litre, bringing the rate down from Rs. 398.96 to Rs. 398.30 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel has increased by Rs. 0.52 per litre, rising from Rs. 395.72 to Rs. 396.24 per litre.

The latest adjustment follows Thursday’s increase, when petrol became more expensive by Rs. 2.31 per litre and diesel prices rose by Rs. 0.78 per litre.

Petrol and Diesel Prices in October

Fuel prices have fluctuated significantly since daily revisions began. On October 1, petrol was priced at Rs. 390.66 per litre, while diesel cost Rs. 399.34 per litre.

By October 9, petrol had climbed to Rs. 398.30 per litre, while diesel stood at Rs. 396.24 per litre.

The latest reduction offers motorists a small amount of relief at petrol stations, although petrol remains considerably more expensive than it was at the end of August.

Fuel Prices Have Risen Sharply Since July

The daily price adjustments have resulted in substantial increases in fuel costs over recent months. According to the published figures, petrol has increased by Rs. 87.19 per litre and diesel by Rs. 72.94 per litre since the daily revision system began.

Before daily pricing started, petrol was priced at Rs. 310.71 per litre and diesel at Rs. 323.30 per litre during July 11–17.

Despite the latest decrease, petrol continues to remain close to the Rs. 400-per-litre mark. Motorists will be watching upcoming fuel price announcements for further changes that could affect household budgets and transportation expenses.
