Alibaba Employees Mark Olympic Day 2026 with Global Sports and Wellness Activities

Report: Imran Sohail

Alibaba employees around the world participated in a variety of sports and fitness activities to celebrate Olympic Day 2026, promoting healthy lifestyles and workplace wellness.

The activities were organized in support of the Olympic Day theme, “You Can Do This! Let’s Move.”, which encourages people to stay active through sports and physical activity.

As part of the celebrations, Alibaba introduced its first Alibaba Sports Day, an initiative aimed at encouraging employee participation in fitness and team-building activities.

At the company’s headquarters in Hangzhou, China, employees took part in a mini marathon, football matches, and basketball games. Similar events were held across Alibaba offices in different countries, allowing employees to engage in recreational sports and wellness challenges.

The activities included a variety of team competitions and fitness exercises designed to encourage movement and promote a healthy work-life balance.

Alibaba Group Chairman Joe Tsai highlighted the value of sports in fostering determination, teamwork, and personal development. He noted that the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to employee well-being and active lifestyles.

Olympic Day is observed annually on June 23 to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The global initiative encourages people of all ages to participate in physical activity and enjoy the benefits of sport.

Since becoming a Worldwide Olympic Partner in 2017, Alibaba has contributed technology solutions to support the Olympic Movement, including cloud computing and digital innovation projects.

Through programs such as Alibaba Sports Day, the company aims to encourage greater participation in physical activity while supporting the broader goals of health, wellness, and community engagement.
