CM Punjab Rahmat Card Enters Next Phase as Digital Payments Begin
The CM Punjab Rahmat Card programme has entered a new phase with JazzCash starting digital payments to selected widows and orphans across Punjab, following the successful computerized balloting held on June 23, 2026.
The launch of digital disbursements marks the transition from beneficiary selection to the distribution of financial assistance, moving the programme into its implementation stage.
Digital Welfare System
The CM Punjab Rahmat Card is a joint initiative of the Government of Punjab, Zakat & Ushr Department, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), NADRA, Punjab Social Protection Authority (PSPA), Urban Unit, JazzCash, and other partner organizations.
The programme aims to digitize the entire welfare process, including online applications, eligibility verification, transparent beneficiary selection, and secure digital payments.
Officials Highlight Technology-Driven Approach
During the computerized balloting ceremony, officials appreciated the successful implementation of the project’s digital infrastructure.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Rashid Iqbal Nasrullah acknowledged PITB’s technical support and recognized the contributions of PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf throughout the project’s development.
Secretary of the Zakat & Ushr Department Irfan Ahmad Sandhu also praised PITB for designing and implementing the programme’s digital platform within the required timeline.
Features of the Digital Platform
The technology developed for the programme includes:
- Online application portal
- Android mobile application
- Dedicated helpline for support and complaints
- Beneficiary Management System
- Digital verification through NADRA and Punjab Socio-Economic Registry (PSER)
- Automated eligibility assessment
- Computerized district-wise balloting
- Real-time monitoring and administrative dashboards
Under the digital workflow, applications are submitted online, verified through multiple government databases, assessed against eligibility criteria, allocated according to district quotas, and selected through a computerized balloting process before payments are transferred digitally through JazzCash.
Focus on Transparency and Efficiency
Officials said the CM Punjab Rahmat Card programme is designed to improve transparency, accountability, efficiency, and speed in welfare distribution by replacing traditional manual procedures with an integrated digital system.
The initiative also reflects the Punjab government’s broader efforts to use digital technology for delivering public services and financial assistance to eligible citizens in a secure and transparent manner.
