FIFA Addresses Ticketing Error Ahead of World Cup 2026

FIFA has confirmed that a technical issue in its ticketing system temporarily allowed a small number of fans to receive World Cup 2026 tickets without completing payment.

According to the organization, approximately 60 fans were affected by a checkout-related payment error that resulted in tickets being allocated at no cost. FIFA has since canceled those tickets and offered the affected customers an opportunity to repurchase them at the standard price.

In a statement, FIFA said it regrets any inconvenience caused and has contacted the affected ticket holders with further instructions regarding their purchases.

Reports indicate that the tickets involved were for group-stage matches scheduled to take place in Toronto.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, the United States, and Mexico, is set to begin on June 11. As preparations continue, FIFA is working to ensure a smooth ticketing process for fans attending the tournament.

The governing body currently uses a dynamic pricing model that allows ticket prices to vary based on factors such as demand and availability. Additional tickets may also become available closer to match dates, depending on inventory and sales conditions.

FIFA has encouraged fans to use official ticketing channels and monitor updates regarding ticket availability and purchasing procedures.
