Foreign Office Rejects Reports Regarding Discussion of Iran Nuclear Matters During US Meeting

Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has rejected media reports suggesting that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar shared information related to Iran’s nuclear program during his recent meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

In an official statement issued on Thursday, the Foreign Office described the reports as inaccurate and speculative, emphasizing that no intelligence or sensitive information was exchanged during the meeting held in Washington on May 29.

According to the ministry, discussions between the two leaders focused on Pakistan-US bilateral relations, regional developments, and efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability.

The statement noted that both sides reviewed the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region, with particular attention given to diplomatic engagement and measures that support regional stability.

The Foreign Office further clarified that the meeting remained focused on diplomatic and policy matters and did not involve the sharing of confidential information regarding any third country.

The clarification follows media reports and public commentary that suggested information concerning Iran may have been discussed during the meeting. The ministry stated that such reports do not reflect the nature of the discussions held between the two officials.

Pakistan reiterated its commitment to diplomacy, constructive dialogue, and peaceful engagement in addressing regional and international challenges.

Officials said that strengthening cooperation, encouraging communication, and supporting diplomatic solutions remain key elements of Pakistan’s foreign policy approach.
