Iran Football Team Receives US Visas Ahead of World Cup, Some Officials Still Pending Approval
Iran’s national football team players have been granted visas to enter the United States ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, according to a US official, while some members of the team’s support staff are still awaiting approval.
A White House official confirmed the development, noting that the players received their visas ahead of the team’s scheduled arrival in North America. Earlier, Iranian officials had raised concerns that visa approvals had not yet been fully issued.
Iranian media reports said that several administrative and technical staff members, including senior federation officials, have not yet received visas. These include key personnel responsible for team management and media coordination.
According to reports, the affected staff members are expected to travel with the squad to Mexico while efforts continue to secure their US entry permits.
Iran is set to play its group-stage matches in the United States during the tournament, which is being jointly hosted by the US, Mexico, and Canada.
The issue of visas has drawn attention due to broader diplomatic tensions between the two countries. However, officials on both sides have continued to emphasize the importance of the team’s participation in the global tournament.
Iran’s football federation has maintained that it is coordinating with relevant authorities to ensure smooth travel arrangements for the entire delegation ahead of the competition.
