Makkah Grand Mosque Muezzin Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani Passes Away

MAKKAH: Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani, a muezzin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah, passed away on Monday after delivering the Fajr call to prayer at Masjid Al Haram.

Reports said his Fajr Adhan on Monday was his final call to prayer at the Grand Mosque. News of his death was shared through reports and social media posts related to the Two Holy Mosques.

Funeral Prayer at Grand Mosque

According to Saudi media reports, the funeral prayer for Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani was scheduled to be offered after the Asr prayer on Monday at the Grand Mosque in Makkah.

The specific cause of his death had not been officially disclosed in the reports available at the time.

Early Life and Religious Background

Sheikh Ibrahim Al Madani was born in Madinah in 1976 and came from a religious family. His grandfather, who was a memoriser of the Quran, had a strong influence on his early life.

He later studied Qur’anic sciences and developed a long-standing connection with the call to prayer.

Al Madani began serving as a muezzin at the age of 15 at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah. He continued performing the role on a rotational basis with other muezzins while completing his education.

Service at Masjid Al Haram

Al Madani later resumed his service as a muezzin before being appointed to serve at the Grand Mosque in Makkah in 2017–18.

He became particularly recognised for delivering the Fajr Adhan and takbeers at Masjid Al Haram. Reports also noted his role in relaying the imam’s takbeers and movements to worshippers through the mosque’s sound system.

His final Fajr call to prayer on Monday was shared widely online following news of his death, with worshippers and followers posting tributes and recordings of his voice.
