Murree Traffic Police Launch Special Squads to Prevent Fare Overcharging
Traffic police in Murree have formed special enforcement squads to curb the practice of overcharging passengers during the peak tourist season.
According to officials, the initiative aims to ensure that transporters adhere to approved fare rates and that visitors are not subjected to unfair pricing.
Monitoring at Key Tourist Areas
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Murree Munir Ahmed Hashmi visited major transport hubs, including Patriata Bazaar, to review traffic arrangements, parking management, and passenger facilities.
During his visit, he instructed officials to increase monitoring efforts and take strict action against violations related to fare overcharging and illegal parking.
Special Squads for Surprise Checks
Traffic police said the newly formed squads will carry out surprise inspections at bus stands, transport terminals, and other busy locations.
The teams will focus on identifying operators charging fares above the officially approved rates and ensuring compliance with transport regulations.
Officials emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating fare rules.
Action Against Violations
Traffic authorities also reported ongoing enforcement activity in nearby regions. In the past month, hundreds of vehicles and drivers have been penalized for overloading passengers and charging excessive fares.
Public Advisory
Citizens and tourists have been encouraged to report instances of overcharging and other travel-related complaints to traffic authorities so that immediate action can be taken.
Officials said these measures are part of broader efforts to improve traffic management, ensure fair practices, and enhance the travel experience for visitors to Murree.
