Pakistan Captain Appreciates ICC Efforts in Development of Women’s Cricket

Pakistan women’s cricket team captain Fatima Sana has appreciated the International Cricket Council (ICC) for its continued efforts to promote and develop women’s cricket globally, saying these initiatives have helped increase awareness and visibility of the game in Pakistan.
Her comments came ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, scheduled to be held in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
Fatima Sana said that strong performances by the Pakistan team in international events could play an important role in increasing interest and support for women’s cricket in the country.
She noted that consistent results on the field would help attract greater attention from fans and encourage the growth of the women’s game at the grassroots level.
The Pakistan skipper also acknowledged the ICC’s contribution to strengthening women’s cricket, saying its development programs and initiatives have helped improve the profile of the sport in Pakistan.
She further welcomed Pakistan being awarded hosting rights for a future Women’s World Cup, calling it a positive step for the development of cricket in the country.
Pakistan has been placed in Group 1 for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. The team will begin its campaign against India at Edgbaston in Birmingham on June 14.
Pakistan will then face South Africa in their second group match on June 17 in Southampton, followed by fixtures against Bangladesh on June 20 in Southampton, Australia on June 23 in Leeds, and the Netherlands on June 27 in Bristol.
The team will aim to deliver a strong performance throughout the tournament as part of its preparation for future international competitions.
