Wembanyama’s Historic 41-Point Performance Lifts Spurs Over Thunder in Double Overtime Thriller

Victor Wembanyama delivered a dominant playoff performance with 41 points and 24 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 122–115 in a dramatic double-overtime Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.

The Spurs secured a hard-fought victory on the road, taking early control of the series in a match that featured multiple lead changes and intense late-game moments.

Wembanyama Leads the Way

Wembanyama played a central role in the Spurs’ win, dominating both offensively and on the boards. He sealed the game with key dunks in the final minute, including a crucial three-point play that helped secure the result.

At 22 years old, he became one of the youngest players in NBA history to record at least 40 points and 20 rebounds in a playoff game, joining an elite list that includes legends of the sport.

Strong Support From Spurs Squad

Dylan Harper added 24 points and a playoff-record seven steals, while Stephon Castle contributed 17 points. Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson also reached double figures, helping San Antonio maintain balance throughout the game.

The Spurs played without De’Aaron Fox, who missed the game due to ankle stiffness.

Thunder Fight Hard in Defeat

For the Thunder, Alex Caruso led the scoring with 31 points off the bench, while Jalen Williams added 26 points in his return from injury.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 24 points and 12 assists but struggled with his shooting efficiency on a tough night for the MVP.

Despite a strong effort, the Thunder’s nine-game playoff winning streak came to an end.

Game 2 Ahead

The series continues with Game 2 scheduled in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, where both teams will look to adjust after a physically demanding opener described as one of the most intense playoff battles in recent memory.
