Iran and US Exchange New Military Strikes as Gulf Tensions Continue
Military tensions between Iran and the United States continued to escalate on Friday, with both sides reporting new military operations following several days of reciprocal strikes.
According to statements released by both governments, the latest developments mark the sixth consecutive day of reported military action since the recent ceasefire agreement broke down.
US Reports Additional Military Operations
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said American forces carried out another round of strikes targeting what it described as Iranian military infrastructure.
According to the statement, the operations involved fighter aircraft, drones, and naval assets, with strikes reportedly conducted on military facilities in areas including Qeshm Island and near Bandar Abbas.
US officials said the targets included military logistics sites, coastal surveillance systems, air defense positions, and maritime-related infrastructure.
Iran Announces Response
Iranian officials said their forces launched retaliatory operations targeting US military facilities in parts of the Gulf region.
State media also reported that several locations inside Iran, including bridges and transportation infrastructure, were affected during the latest round of strikes. Iranian authorities reported casualties following attacks in the southern port city of Bandar Khamir.
Independent verification of all battlefield claims from either side remains limited.
Shipping Disruptions Affect Gulf Trade
The renewed conflict has again disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important routes for global oil and gas transportation.
According to international reports, reduced maritime traffic has contributed to increased uncertainty in global energy markets and higher oil prices.
Officials also warned that continued instability could affect shipping routes in the wider Gulf region.
Diplomatic Efforts Remain Uncertain
The White House said the United States will continue to respond to threats against its interests while maintaining that diplomatic options remain available.
Iran has also continued to outline its position regarding maritime security and regional navigation, as both sides remain engaged in military and political exchanges.
Regional Situation Remains Fluid
The security situation across the Gulf remains highly dynamic, with governments in the region closely monitoring developments.
