Belgium has put its celebrations behind it and is now fully focused on a major FIFA World Cup quarterfinal showdown against Spain after an impressive victory over the United States.
The Red Devils resumed training in the Los Angeles area on Wednesday, just two days after defeating the tournament hosts 4-1 in Seattle. Following a dramatic comeback win against Senegal and a convincing performance against the United States, Belgium now prepares for one of its toughest matches of the tournament.
Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois said the team has grown in confidence after producing strong performances in both defense and attack.
“We knew facing the United States in front of their home supporters would be a difficult challenge,” Courtois said. “The team stayed organized, played with confidence, and delivered a complete performance.”
Belgium entered the Round of 16 with added motivation after FIFA lifted the one-match suspension of American forward Folarin Balogun before the match. However, Belgium remained composed and controlled the game from start to finish.
After the final whistle, Belgian players celebrated enthusiastically both on the field and inside the dressing room. Some of the celebrations attracted widespread attention on social media, including a dance that has recently been seen in various sporting events and is also associated with Donald Trump. The celebration quickly became a talking point among football fans online.
Belgium now turns its full attention to an unbeaten Spain national football team side in Friday’s quarterfinal, with a place in the World Cup semifinals at stake.
