Brazil Defeats Haiti 3-0 to Boost World Cup Qualification Hopes
Brazil earned a convincing 3-0 victory over Haiti in their FIFA World Cup Group C match on Friday, strengthening their chances of advancing to the knockout stage.
Forward Matheus Cunha scored twice, while Vinicius Junior added another goal as Brazil delivered a much-improved performance following their opening 1-1 draw against Morocco.
The five-time world champions controlled possession for most of the match and created several scoring opportunities. Brazil took the lead in the 23rd minute when Cunha capitalized on a loose ball inside the penalty area to find the net.
Cunha doubled Brazil’s advantage later in the first half after combining effectively with Vinicius Junior. The attacking duo caused problems for Haiti’s defense throughout the match.
Before halftime, Vinicius Junior added Brazil’s third goal, finishing calmly after receiving a well-placed pass from Lucas Paqueta.
Haiti worked hard to create chances and nearly scored early in the second half, but Brazil goalkeeper Alisson Becker made an important save to maintain his team’s clean sheet.
Brazil continued to press for additional goals, with substitute Gabriel Martinelli coming close when his effort struck the crossbar.
The result gives Brazil an important three points ahead of its final Group C match against Scotland. Haiti, making its first World Cup appearance since 1974, will conclude its tournament campaign against Morocco.
With the victory, Brazil remains in contention for top spot in the group and enters its final group-stage match with renewed confidence.
