Ministry Announces Date for Dhul-Hijjah Moon Sighting Meeting in Karachi
The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony has announced the date for the meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee to sight the moon of Dhul-Hijjah 1447 Hijri.
According to an official statement, the meeting will be held on May 17 in Karachi to observe the new moon and determine the start of the Islamic month.
Meeting to Be Held in Karachi
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will take place at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi on Sunday evening, corresponding to 29 Zil Qadah 1447 Hijri.
At the same time, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committee meetings will also be held across the country at their respective headquarters.
Final Decision on Eid ul Adha
The final announcement regarding the sighting of the Dhul-Hijjah moon will be made by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad.
The decision will determine the expected date of Eid ul Adha in Pakistan.
Importance of Moon Sighting
The Ruet-e-Hilal process plays an important role in confirming the Islamic lunar calendar in Pakistan and is followed nationwide for major religious occasions and festivals.
