Modified Motorcycles No Longer Allowed on Roads

According to official directives, motorcycles retrofitted with metal grills, wooden frames, or other attachments for carrying goods will no longer be allowed to operate across the region. These modifications have been flagged as hazardous, especially on main highways, commercial zones, and congested urban areas.

The ban is being strictly enforced by the Transport Authority, Excise and Taxation Department, and the Traffic Police, who have launched an active crackdown campaign.

Only Factory-Approved Vehicles Allowed

Under the new rules, only factory-manufactured loader rickshaws and Qingqi rickshaws will be legally permitted to transport goods or passengers. Authorities say this measure will help reduce traffic hazards and prevent road accidents caused by unstable and overloaded converted bikes.

Any motorcycle found violating the directive will be impounded immediately. The vehicle will only be released after removal of all unauthorized attachments and upon approval from the authorities.

Seized vehicles will be returned under judicial custody, and strict legal action will be taken against repeat offenders.

Transporters Urged to Comply

Officials have urged motorcycle owners and transporters to comply with the new regulations to avoid penalties and seizure. The move, they emphasize, is aimed at creating safer roads for all commuters in Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.
