Who threw eggs at Aleema Khan?

Women Who Threw Eggs at Aleema Khan Taken Into Custody in Rawalpindi

Rawalpindi | September 5, 2025

A dramatic scene unfolded outside Adiala Jail on Friday when Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan, was pelted with eggs during a media interaction.

Aleema had been addressing reporters after attending a Toshakhana case hearing when two women suddenly threw eggs at her, leaving her briefly shocked. Regaining her composure, she told journalists:

β€œWe don’t care if anyone attacks us, as we already knew such incidents could happen.”

She then returned to her car to avoid further confrontation.

Police Response

According to Rawalpindi police, the women involved were linked to the All Government Employees Grand Alliance and APCA protests against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, citing delayed salaries and administrative concerns. Both women, who had traveled from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, were immediately taken into custody and shifted to the Adiala police post for questioning.

PTI Reaction

The incident sparked protests from PTI workers, including former MPA Seemabia Tahir, who accused the detainees of deliberately creating chaos to tarnish the party’s leadership.

PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan strongly condemned the attack, stating:

β€œThere is someone trying to worsen the situation by targeting the PTI founder’s family. This is the first time such a physical attack has taken place.”

He also demanded foolproof security for Imran Khan’s family members.
