LDA Seeks Legal Action Over Alleged Violations in Two Lahore Housing Schemes
Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has requested the registration of FIRs against the owners, sponsors, and developers of two private housing schemes over alleged violations of the LDA Act, 1975, and the LDA Private Housing Scheme Rules, 2014.
According to official documents, the authority has approached Green Town Police Station regarding the matter.
Sewerage Concerns Raised
The LDA stated that both housing schemes were issued multiple notices regarding sewerage-related issues but allegedly failed to provide an adequate sewage disposal system or address the concerns raised by the authority.
One of the cases relates to a housing scheme located near Block D/2, IEP Town Sector A on Defence Road, where officials say repeated notices were not fully complied with.
Another case involves a nearby private land subdivision, where the LDA has also sought legal action over similar sewerage concerns.
Additional Allegations
According to the LDA, the private land subdivision is also alleged to have carried out an unauthorized extension by constructing a boundary wall on land designated for a public facility.
The authority further stated that the subdivision had not received the required approval from the competent authority.
Official Response
Chief Metropolitan Planner Riaz Hussain Goraya confirmed that applications requesting legal action had been submitted to the police.
He said that, under LDA regulations, such applications are filed against the owner, sponsor, and developer of the housing project.
Landowner’s Position
One of the landowners named in media reports stated that he was not aware of the FIR applications but confirmed ownership of the land, adding that development responsibilities had been assigned to a separate developer.
He also said the housing scheme’s sewerage infrastructure had already been installed and discussions were ongoing to connect it with a nearby sewerage network.
Authorities are expected to proceed with the matter in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
