KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Says PTI Pursued All Constitutional and Legal Options
PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mohammad Sohail Afridi said on Tuesday that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had exhausted all available constitutional and legal avenues in its efforts to seek what it considers its political and legal rights.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the launch of the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan, Afridi said the party had approached relevant judicial forums and remained committed to pursuing its objectives through constitutional and democratic means.
Commitment to Constitutional Process
According to the chief minister, PTI will continue its political activities within the framework of the Constitution and the law. He also said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government remains committed to democratic values, the rule of law, and the protection of citizens’ rights.
Afridi further alleged that both PTI and the provincial government have faced unequal treatment at the federal level. These remarks reflect the party’s position on its ongoing political and legal challenges.
Call for Peaceful Political Engagement
The chief minister stated that political differences should be addressed through democratic dialogue, constitutional institutions, and public participation rather than coercive measures.
He also invited supporters and members of the public to participate in a gathering at Peshawar Toll Plaza on August 5, describing the event as an important stage in PTI’s political movement. He said the party would announce its future political strategy during the gathering.
Afridi reiterated that PTI intends to continue its political struggle through peaceful and lawful means.
Peshawar Revitalisation Plan Launched
The chief minister was addressing the inauguration of the Peshawar Revitalisation Plan, under which 34 public parks across the city will be upgraded.
The project, with an estimated cost of Rs1 billion, aims to improve public spaces, recreational facilities, landscaping, accessibility, and urban infrastructure. Work has already begun on all project sites, with implementation divided into multiple phases to support timely completion.
Development Projects for the Provincial Capital
Afridi said the provincial government is currently implementing development projects worth approximately Rs200 billion to improve infrastructure, transportation, and public services across Peshawar.
He added that the proposed Urban Train Project has been included in the Annual Development Programme (ADP), with work expected to begin in the near future. The Outer Ring Road Project has also been included in the development plan to help address growing traffic demands and support the city’s expansion.
The chief minister concluded by emphasizing that lasting political stability depends on democratic institutions, constitutional processes, and respect for public opinion.
