Pakistan’s Local Mobile Phone Assembly Rises Sharply in July
Mobile phone manufacturing and assembly in Pakistan recorded strong growth in July 2026, with local production reaching 3.90 million units, according to the latest data from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA).
The figure represents a 9 percent increase compared with July 2025 and a significant 102 percent rise from the previous month.
Analysts at Topline Research attributed the monthly recovery partly to stronger demand after some consumers delayed mobile phone purchases ahead of the FY27 budget.
Local Phones Meet Most of July Demand
The increase in domestic production helped locally manufactured and assembled phones meet approximately 97 percent of Pakistan’s mobile phone demand in July.
This was a notable improvement from May 2026, when local production accounted for around 75 percent of demand.
For the first seven months of 2026, locally manufactured and assembled phones met approximately 86 percent of overall market demand.
Mobile Phone Imports Decline
Pakistan’s mobile phone imports fell significantly during July.
Imports stood at around 110,000 units, representing a 35 percent year-on-year decline and an 83 percent decrease compared with June.
The combination of higher local production and lower imports indicates that domestic assembly continues to play an important role in meeting demand for mobile devices.
Overall Mobile Market Grows
Despite the decline in imports, Pakistan’s overall mobile phone market recorded growth in July.
Around 4.01 million mobile phones were sold or supplied to the market during the month, compared with 3.76 million units in July 2025. This represents approximately 7 percent year-on-year growth.
Production During First Seven Months of 2026
Despite the strong performance in July, cumulative local mobile phone production remained below last year’s level.
During the first seven months of 2026, Pakistan produced and assembled approximately 17.00 million units, compared with 17.83 million units during the same period in 2025.
This represents a 5 percent year-on-year decline.
The latest figures nevertheless show a strong recovery in monthly local assembly and highlight the growing role of domestic mobile phone production in Pakistan’s market.
