Three Militants Killed in Mir Ali Operation, State Media Reports
MIR ALI: Security forces killed three militants during an intelligence-based operation in Mir Ali, North Waziristan, according to state media reports on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out in Mir Ali and nearby areas, where security forces reportedly targeted militant hideouts. A quantity of weapons and ammunition was also recovered during the operation.
According to the reports, the forces also prevented an attempt to intercept a truck carrying food supplies near Mir Ali Bazaar.
The state uses the term Fitna al-Khawarij for militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
President, Prime Minister Praise Forces
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif separately praised the security forces following the operation.
President Zardari said counterterrorism operations would continue to protect the lives and property of citizens. He also said efforts would be made to prevent militant groups from carrying out attacks in the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said security operations would continue until terrorism is eliminated and described counterterrorism efforts as a priority for the government.
Recent Operations
The latest operation comes a day after security forces reportedly killed seven militants in separate intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.
Five militants were reported killed in Khyber district’s Bara area, where weapons and ammunition were also recovered.
In Chagai district of Balochistan, two militants were reportedly killed during an operation in the Nok Kacha area. Security sources said the suspects had allegedly set an empty water tanker on fire before attempting to flee.
Pakistan has faced a series of militant attacks in recent months, resulting in casualties among security personnel and civilians.
Authorities have continued intelligence-based operations in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
