European Qualifier for WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027 Begins in Czechia

The WBSC Europe U-18 Men’s Softball European Championship has officially begun in Břeclav and Kunovice, Czechia, with five national teams competing for the continental title and qualification for the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027.
The tournament opened with a ceremony on June 29, while competitive matches get underway on June 30.
Five Teams Competing for World Cup Qualification
Five nations are taking part in this year’s championship:
- Czechia
- Denmark
- Israel
- Great Britain
- Lithuania
The tournament also marks Lithuania’s first appearance at the U-18 Men’s Softball European Championship, representing another step forward in the country’s youth softball development.
The top-performing teams will earn places at the WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027, which will also be hosted in Czechia, making it the first edition of the tournament to be held in Europe.
Teams Already Qualified
Six nations have already secured qualification for the 2027 World Cup through their respective regional competitions:
- Venezuela
- Canada
- Argentina
- Mexico
- New Zealand
- Australia
The official dates for the 2027 World Cup will be announced at a later time.
Tournament Format
The European Championship returns after a three-year break and features a single round-robin stage, with each team playing one another before the medal matches scheduled for July 4.
Opening Day Fixtures
The first day of competition includes the following matches:
- Great Britain vs. Israel
- Lithuania vs. Czechia
- Israel vs. Denmark
- Great Britain vs. Lithuania
U-16 Championship Also Underway
Alongside the U-18 competition, the U-16 Men’s Softball European Championship is also taking place in Czechia.
Five teams—Croatia, Czechia, Denmark, Great Britain, and Israel—are participating, reflecting continued growth in youth men’s softball across Europe.
Historic Tournament Ahead
The WBSC U-18 Men’s Softball World Cup 2027 will be the 15th edition of the tournament, which was first held in 1981.
By hosting the event, Czechia will become the seventh country to stage the competition, joining Argentina, Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and the United States.
The upcoming World Cup is expected to provide another major platform for the development of youth softball and showcase emerging talent from around the world.
