Canada Names 14-Man Training Roster for FIBA AmeriCup 2025

Canada Basketball has unveiled its 14-man training roster for the upcoming FIBA AmeriCup 2025, set to take place from August 22–31 in Nicaragua. The team features a mix of promising NBA talent and seasoned veterans, aiming to make a strong impact in Group C alongside Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and Panama.

NBA Stars Lead the Way

Heading the roster are Kyshawn George of the Washington Wizards and Leonard Miller of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Kyshawn George, 21, had an impressive rookie season in Washington, averaging 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.5 assists across 68 games after being drafted 24th overall from the University of Miami. Born in Aigle, Switzerland, to a Canadian father, George spent much of his youth in France and Switzerland before moving to the U.S. for college basketball. Though he previously played for Switzerland’s U16 team, George has chosen to represent Canada at the senior level.

Leonard Miller, also 21, brings versatility and athleticism to Canada’s frontcourt. The Scarborough, Ontario native appeared in 13 games for Minnesota last season after being selected 33rd overall in the 2023 NBA Draft. Known for his length and scoring ability, Miller is poised to take on a prominent role with the national team.

Veteran Presence

Joining the young NBA talents are experienced players Trae Bell-Haynes, a bronze medalist at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and sharpshooter Kyle Wiltjer, providing leadership and stability to the squad.

Coaching and Leadership

Canada will be led by interim coach Nathaniel Mitchell, former Toronto Raptors assistant, while head coach Gordie Herbert remains committed to his duties with Bayern Munich. Mitchell will guide the team through its preparations and matches against top Group C opponents.
