Record Prize Money Set for 2025 Comcast Business U.S. Open Squash Championships
The world’s top squash players will compete for record prize money at the 52nd Comcast Business U.S. Open Squash Championships, taking place at Philadelphia’s Arlen Specter US Squash Center from October 19–25, 2025.
As the first major Platinum-level event of the season on the PSA Squash Tour, the tournament will feature 64 of the world’s leading male and female players vying for a total prize pool of $452,000—split evenly between men and women for the 12th consecutive year, reflecting PSA and US Squash’s commitment to gender parity.
Live Coverage and Global Broadcast
For the first time, the semi-finals and finals (October 24–25) will be streamed live in the U.S. on Peacock, with SQUASHTV providing enhanced coverage including more camera angles and cutting-edge production technology. Fans worldwide can also watch via PSA broadcast partners.
“We’re excited to showcase the world’s best squash players on Peacock for the first time,” said Molly Solomon, Executive Producer, NBC Olympics and Paralympics. “As squash gears up for its Olympic debut in Los Angeles 2028, events like this help build momentum for the sport’s biggest stage.”
Star-Studded Lineup
Top players in attendance include Women’s World No.1 Nouran Gohar, who will defend her title against challengers including World Champion Nour El Sherbini, while the men’s draw features World No.1 Mostafa Asal and British Open champion Diego Elias. Former champion Ali Farag announced his retirement in May, leaving the men’s field wide open.
American stars are also in contention, including Olivia Weaver, Amanda Sobhy, and Marina Stefanoni. Weaver, ranked No.4 globally, made history as the first American to reach the PSA Tour Finals title match in June and will aim for her first major win on home soil. Current U.S. National Champion Timothy Brownell (No.36) will also compete in the men’s draw.
Olympic Spotlight
Adding to the excitement, Comcast has secured naming rights for squash’s Olympic debut at Los Angeles 2028, with the venue now officially called the Comcast Squash Center at Universal Studios.
“The U.S. Open has always been one of the most prestigious events on the PSA Tour,” said PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough. “With record prize money, top-class athletes, and expanded global coverage, we’re bringing squash to more fans than ever ahead of LA28.”
US Squash executives emphasized the tournament’s role in inspiring the next generation of Olympians. “Many of these players may represent their countries on the Olympic stage in 2028,” said Ned Edwards, US Squash Chief of Sport Development. “We’re thrilled to host the largest U.S. Open purse in history and showcase world-class squash in Philadelphia this October.”
