Investigative Report Questions IAF Chief’s Statement on “Operation Sindoor”
A new report by Fake News Watchdog has raised concerns over recent remarks by the Indian Air Force (IAF) Chief, who claimed that six Pakistani aircraft were shot down during Operation Sindoor.
The watchdog stated that it found no verifiable evidence to support the claim and suggested that the announcement may have been politically influenced. The report further noted that the images released by Indian authorities were of poor quality and appeared to be reused or digitally altered, making independent verification difficult.
According to defense experts cited in the findings, there was a “lack of credible data” to substantiate the IAF’s version of events. The report also mentioned that official policy documents from the IAF did not reference any downed Pakistani aircraft during the operation. Instead, it highlighted suggestions that Pakistan had managed to disrupt elements of India’s air defense system—an issue not publicly addressed by New Delhi.
International reactions were also mixed. While U.S. defense analysts chose not to endorse India’s account, a Chinese analyst described the IAF statement as exaggerated. Pakistan, for its part, has called for an impartial international review, stressing that transparency is important to maintain stability in the region.
The report additionally pointed to the timing of the announcement, which came shortly after India’s National Security Advisor met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Opposition leaders in India criticized the government, suggesting the remarks may have been aimed at shifting public attention away from domestic issues.
