Bangladesh Announces 16-Member Squad for Asia Cup 2025

Bangladesh have officially confirmed their 16-member squad for next month’s Asia Cup, becoming the third major team to announce their participants for the tournament.

The squad includes some bold selections, notably wicketkeeper-batter Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, who returns to T20I cricket after nearly three years. The 31-year-old last featured in the format during the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. His comeback adds depth as the Tigers prepare for a busy run of fixtures.

Led by captain Litton Das, Bangladesh will first face the Netherlands in a three-match T20I series before the continental tournament begins. In the Asia Cup, they have been drawn in Group B alongside Afghanistan, Hong Kong, and defending champions Sri Lanka.

Standby players for the tournament include Soumya Sarkar, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Tanvir Islam, and Hasan Mahmud. Miraz’s absence from the main squad has attracted attention, as he played a key role in Bangladesh’s recent home series win against Pakistan but will now serve as a reserve.

With eight teams in contention, including heavyweights India and Pakistan, the Asia Cup is a key platform for Bangladesh as they gear up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. Buoyed by their series win over Pakistan, Litton Das’s men will aim to make a strong impact on the continental stage.
