Pakistan Announces Squad for ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025

Lahore – August 2025: Pakistan has officially unveiled its 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, placing a strong focus on young talent and fresh faces.


Fatima Sana to Lead Pakistan

At just 23 years old, Fatima Sana will captain the national side for the first time in an ODI World Cup. Having guided Pakistan through the qualifiers, the young all-rounder now faces her biggest challenge yet on the global stage.


New Talent Joins the Squad

The squad balances experience with youth. Rising star Eyman Fatima (20) has earned her place, while six players are set for their maiden World Cup appearances:

  • Natalia Parvaiz

  • Rameen Shamim

  • Sadaf Shamas

  • Sadia Iqbal

  • Shawaal Zulfiqar

  • Syeda Aroob Shah

Two changes were made from the qualifier squad, with Eyman Fatima and Sadaf Shamas replacing Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi. Both dropped players remain on the five-member reserve list alongside Tuba Hassan, Umm-e-Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar.

Tournament Schedule

The 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup will run from September 30 to November 2, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. All of Pakistan’s matches will take place at Colombo’s R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

Key fixtures include:

  • vs Bangladesh – October 2

  • vs India – October 5

  • vs Australia – October 8

  • vs England – October 15

  • vs New Zealand – October 18

  • vs South Africa – October 21

  • vs Sri Lanka – October 24

The semi-final (October 29) and the final (November 2) will also be played in Colombo.


Preparations Ahead

Before heading to Sri Lanka, Pakistan’s women cricketers will attend a 14-day training camp in Lahore starting August 29. The squad will also test its readiness in a three-match ODI series against South Africa at Gaddafi Stadium from September 16–22.
