Rafael Devers’ Home Run Sparks Bench-Clearing Incident in Giants vs. Rockies Game

SAN FRANCISCO – Rafael Devers hit his 30th home run of the season on Tuesday night, but the moment quickly turned chaotic as a benches-clearing incident led to three ejections.

Devers, a three-time All-Star, launched a two-run homer over the right-field wall off Colorado pitcher Kyle Freeland in the first inning. Freeland took exception to Devers’ celebration, shouting as the slugger reached first base, which sparked players from both teams to charge onto the field.

San Francisco’s Matt Chapman and Willy Adames were involved in the altercation and were ejected alongside Freeland. No punches were thrown, and umpires restored order before announcing the ejections. Devers waited at first base and later completed his trot around the bases.

The Giants were forced to reshuffle their infield after the ejections. Devers played third base for the first time since joining the club from Boston in June. Christian Koss moved from second to shortstop, Casey Schmitt entered at second, and Dominic Smith took over at first base.
