Uzbekistan Airways Expands Flight Operations Between Pakistan and Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan Airways has announced a major expansion in its Pakistan–Uzbekistan flight operations, a move aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, boosting economic diplomacy, and promoting tourism between the two countries.
More Flights on Islamabad–Tashkent Route
According to the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad, direct air links are playing a key role in enhancing cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
From October 28, Uzbekistan Airways will double its weekly flights on the Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent route, increasing services from one to two flights per week.
Currently, the airline operates:
-
Two weekly flights on the Tashkent–Lahore–Tashkent route (Wednesdays and Fridays)
-
One weekly flight on the Tashkent–Islamabad route (Saturdays)
High Passenger Demand Driving Expansion
Officials explained that flights have been operating at full capacity, with tickets often selling out well in advance. This consistently strong demand prompted the decision to expand services for Pakistani travelers.
The additional flights will not only provide greater convenience but also:
-
Strengthen trade and investment opportunities
-
Support business linkages
-
Encourage people-to-people exchanges
Broader Regional and Global Benefits
The embassy highlighted that the expansion reflects the “brotherly relations” between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, while also supporting cultural and humanitarian ties.
Beyond bilateral advantages, the move benefits international travelers as well. Tashkent International Airport serves as a vital transit hub, connecting passengers from Pakistan to major destinations across Europe, North America, and Asia.
