Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Launches Phase 2 of Green Tractor Scheme, 9,500 Tractors for Farmers

Lahore, Pakistan – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially launched the second phase of the Green Tractor Scheme, announcing the distribution of 9,500 tractors to farmers across the province.

The tractors were allocated through a draw, with CM Nawaz personally congratulating several successful applicants over the phone. According to the Punjab Agriculture Department, the program will ultimately provide 20,000 tractors to support farmers.

Under the scheme, farmers who own seven acres or more are eligible for tractors ranging from 75 to 125 horsepower. High-powered tractors come with a government subsidy of Rs. 1 million, while medium-powered models receive Rs. 500,000.

Officials reported massive interest from the farming community, with 734,000 applications submitted and 282,000 deemed eligible for the draw. Around 98% of applicants requested locally manufactured tractors, highlighting a growing focus on domestic production.

During the launch ceremony, Maryam Nawaz emphasized that the scheme is designed to ease financial burdens on farmers, provide modern farming machinery, and strengthen Punjab’s agricultural productivity and economy.
