Islamabad Plans Major Upgrade for Capital Emergency Services

ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting on Capital Emergency Services was held on Friday at the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Headquarters, chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa.


Strengthening Emergency Services in the Capital

The meeting focused on modernizing and upgrading emergency response systems in Islamabad. Officials shared that consultations are ongoing with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to secure technical assistance and advanced equipment for rescue teams.


Advanced Tools and Faster Response

Authorities confirmed that the upgraded service will include:

  • Rescue motorbikes for quick mobility in congested areas

  • Specialized emergency vehicles to handle complex situations

  • Drone technology for real-time monitoring and assessment

  • A modern Emergency Operations Center to coordinate all responses efficiently

The new system aims to significantly reduce response times and provide faster assistance to citizens during emergencies.


Forest Fire Preparedness

The meeting also reviewed strategies to tackle forest fire incidents. Plans include:

  • Deploying drone surveillance for early detection

  • Setting up watchtowers in vulnerable areas

  • Strengthening coordination between emergency teams

Officials revealed that a suitable site has already been identified for the Emergency Operations Center, marking an important milestone in building a modern, technology-driven emergency response framework for Islamabad.
