P&G Announces Exit from Pakistan Operations, Shifts to Distributor Model

Procter & Gamble (P&G), one of the world’s leading consumer goods companies, has officially confirmed it will wind down its direct manufacturing and commercial operations in Pakistan, including Gillette Pakistan Ltd.

Transition to Distributor Model

While P&G will no longer operate directly, its popular brands will remain available in the Pakistani market. The company plans to shift to a third-party distributor model, ensuring consumers continue to have access to P&G products.

Global Strategy and Employee Support

According to P&G, the move is part of its global restructuring strategy aimed at accelerating growth and enhancing value creation. The company emphasized that during the transition period, which may take several months, business operations will continue as normal.

P&G also assured that support for employees remains a top priority. Staff affected by the transition will either be considered for opportunities at P&G operations abroad or receive separation packages as per local laws and company policies.

Gillette Pakistan Ltd. Responds

The Gillette Company LLC has formally notified Gillette Pakistan Limited and its Board of Directors about P&G’s decision. In response, the Board will soon meet to decide the next steps for winding down operations, including the possibility of de-listing Gillette Pakistan Ltd. from the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), while ensuring full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

What It Means for Consumers

Although P&G will no longer manufacture or sell directly in Pakistan, its products will continue to be available through regional operations and local distributors. The company thanked its employees, partners, and loyal consumers, saying:

“Thank you for your support over the years that has helped us take P&G in Pakistan as far as we could.”
