Pakistan Condemns Israel’s Attack on Gaza Aid Flotilla, Demands Release of Detained Activists
Islamabad (October 2, 2025): Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, calling it a blatant violation of international law. The flotilla, carrying humanitarian aid for Gaza, was blocked by Israeli forces, leading to the arrest of several international activists, including former Pakistani Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan.
PM Shehbaz Calls for Immediate Release of Activists
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in a statement on X, described the incident as a “dastardly attack” by Israeli forces on over 450 humanitarian workers from 44 countries. He stressed that the activists’ only mission was to provide aid to Palestinians facing dire humanitarian conditions.
“Peace must be given a chance, and humanitarian aid must reach those in need,” the Prime Minister said, urging the immediate release of all detained activists.

Foreign Office Issues Strong Statement
The Foreign Office (FO) also condemned the detention, calling it a deliberate attempt to block humanitarian assistance.
“This unlawful act is yet another violation of international humanitarian law by Israel and endangers innocent civilians,” the FO said. It demanded that Israel immediately release all aid workers and urged the international community to hold Israel accountable.
The FO reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
FM Dar: “Flagrant Violation of International Law”
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar termed the attack a flagrant violation of international law.
“Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s interception of the flotilla. We demand a ceasefire, lifting of the blockade, and the swift release of activists,” Dar said on X.
Pakistani Delegation Targeted
According to the Pak-Palestine Forum, former Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan was arrested after Israeli forces boarded his vessel. Another Pakistani delegate, Syed Uzair Nizami, managed to escape on an observer boat and confirmed the interception.
Former Senator Faisal Javed Khan also condemned Israel’s actions, calling for prayers for the safety of all detained activists.
Flotilla’s Humanitarian Mission
The 45-vessel Global Sumud Flotilla had departed Spain last month to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza, which the UN warns is pushing the region toward famine. Despite repeated attempts, similar flotillas have been intercepted in the past, with Israel continuing to block aid shipments.
The group vowed to continue its mission, stating on X: “We remain vigilant as we enter the area where previous flotillas were intercepted or attacked.”
