Cricket Australia Hopes Pakistani Players Clear NOCs for Big Bash League 15
October 2, 2025
The Big Bash League (BBL) Season 15 is preparing to welcome top Pakistani cricketers, but the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) new NOC policy has created uncertainty for players’ participation.
PCB’s New NOC Rules
Under its latest guidelines, the PCB will now issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for foreign leagues based on recent player performance. Previously issued NOCs for upcoming tournaments, including the BBL, have been rescinded, creating concern among franchises and players.
Cricket Australia’s Response
Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Todd Greenberg expressed optimism that a resolution could be reached.
“We’ve been in contact with our colleagues at the PCB over the last few days and we’re hopeful we can find a resolution. We’re really looking forward to welcoming their players to the Big Bash — we think they’ll add great value,” Greenberg said.
The statement underscores Australia’s eagerness to see Pakistan’s top talent feature in BBL 15, with star players such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, and Shadab Khan expected to participate.
Franchises like Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars have even dedicated stadium sections to fan-favorite Pakistani players, highlighting their global popularity.
Outlook for BBL 15
While the PCB’s new rules have caused uncertainty, Cricket Australia is taking a diplomatic approach, avoiding confrontation and keeping discussions ongoing. The league has faced similar challenges in the past regarding international player availability, but there is optimism that arrangements will be finalized before the tournament kicks off in December 2025.
The decision now rests with the PCB, with franchises and players awaiting clarity in the coming weeks. Fans remain hopeful that Pakistan’s stars will light up the BBL once again.
