Trump Says He Is Considering F-35 Fighter Jet Deal With Saudi Arabia
November 15, 2025
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that he is reviewing a possible agreement to supply F-35 stealth fighter jets to Saudi Arabia. The aircraft are manufactured by Lockheed Martin and are among the most advanced fighter jets in the world.
Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, Trump said, “They want to buy a lot of jets. I’m looking at that. They’ve asked me to look at it.” He added that the request includes the F-35s as well as other fighter aircraft.
The discussion comes ahead of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s scheduled visit to the White House next week. During the visit, both sides are expected to sign several economic and defence-related agreements.
Trump described the upcoming meeting as more than a routine diplomatic engagement, saying the visit would be an opportunity to “honour” Saudi Arabia. He also reiterated his hope that Saudi Arabia would eventually join the Abraham Accords, which have helped normalise ties between Israel and several Muslim-majority nations. Riyadh has so far held back, citing the need for progress on a roadmap toward Palestinian statehood.
A recent Pentagon intelligence assessment has reportedly raised concerns about the proposed F-35 sale, warning of the risk that sensitive technology could be exposed to China if the deal moves forward, according to a New York Times report.
During the visit, Trump and the crown prince may also discuss a potential US–Saudi defence agreement. Reports in recent weeks have indicated optimism that the two countries could formalise such an arrangement, which Saudi Arabia has pursued as part of its long-term security strategy.
Saudi Arabia remains one of the largest purchasers of US military equipment. For decades, the two nations have maintained a partnership built on energy cooperation and security commitments.
