The federal government has proposed the inclusion of 24 new development projects in the upcoming budget for the fiscal year 2026–27, with estimated allocations amounting to billions of rupees.
According to official documents, a total proposal of approximately Rs. 26.46 billion has been prepared for these new schemes.
The proposed projects include several initiatives focused on healthcare infrastructure, particularly in Lahore’s major public hospitals and medical institutions.
Among the key proposals, funding of Rs. 150 million has been suggested for the construction of a new historical block at Mayo Hospital Lahore, along with an equal allocation for the upgradation of the hospital’s outpatient department (OPD).
For Children’s Hospital Lahore, Rs. 490 million has been proposed for a new modern pharmacy, while Rs. 550 million has been allocated in the proposal for upgrading the pathology department.
Additionally, Rs. 300 million has been suggested for the construction of a new academic block at the College of Dentistry in Lahore.
A separate proposal under consideration includes Rs. 7.4 billion for the procurement of advanced medical equipment, including MRI machines, aimed at improving diagnostic facilities in public hospitals.
Officials say these initiatives are part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve patient services in major government medical institutions.
If approved, the proposed projects will be included in the federal budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year.
