Nelly Korda Captures U.S. Women’s Open Title for Second Consecutive Major Victory
LOS ANGELES: World No. 1 Nelly Korda secured her first U.S. Women’s Open championship on Sunday, adding another milestone to an already remarkable season by claiming her second consecutive major title.
The 27-year-old American golfer finished the tournament at 8-under-par 276, carding a composed 2-under 69 in the final round at Riviera Country Club. Her victory came after a tense finish, as she edged out Charley Hull and Gaby Lopez by a single stroke.
Korda’s final putt on the 18th hole created a dramatic moment for players and spectators alike. The short putt circled part of the hole before eventually dropping, sealing the victory and sparking celebrations around the course.
“It’s even sweeter,” Korda said after the win, reflecting on the memorable finish.
The triumph marks Korda’s fourth career major championship and continues an impressive run of form in 2026. She has now collected four LPGA Tour victories this season, along with several runner-up finishes, reinforcing her position as one of the top performers in women’s golf.
Throughout the final round, Korda remained composed despite challenging conditions and strong competition from several contenders. Her consistency proved decisive as she maintained her position near the top of the leaderboard and delivered when it mattered most.
The championship was particularly significant as it was the first U.S. Women’s Open held at the historic Riviera Country Club, one of golf’s most renowned venues.
With another major title added to her résumé, Korda continues to strengthen her legacy and establish herself among the leading figures in women’s golf today.
