PSL 11 Expansion to 8 Teams Delivers Strong Financial Growth for PCB
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decision to expand the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from six to eight teams has shown strong financial results in Season 11.
According to details presented to the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat, PSL 11 recorded a pre-tax profit of over Rs. 7.549 billion, marking a significant increase compared to previous seasons.
The report shows that total revenue for the 2026 season exceeded Rs. 10.195 billion, while overall expenditures remained around Rs. 2.645 billion.
In comparison, PSL 2025 generated a profit of approximately Rs. 2 billion, while PSL 2024 recorded around Rs. 2.46 billion. This indicates a substantial year-on-year growth in profitability following the expansion of the league.
Officials suggest that the introduction of two additional teams helped increase the number of matches, which in turn boosted broadcasting revenue, sponsorship deals, and ticket sales.
The PCB’s share from the central revenue pool also rose significantly, crossing Rs. 1.29 billion, reflecting the league’s growing commercial value.
Overall, the expanded format of PSL 11 appears to have strengthened the league’s financial performance and opened new opportunities for future growth.
