Pakistan’s Nooh Dastgir Butt Wins Gold at International Strongman Event in Uzbekistan

Pakistan’s strength athlete Nooh Dastgir Butt has won another international gold medal after a strong performance at the Pahlavon Mahmud Strongman Games held in Uzbekistan.

The Gujranwala-born athlete competed in the “Jalaluddin Sword” category in Khiva, where participants were required to hold a 14-kilogram sword for as long as possible. Butt secured the top position by holding the weight for 1 minute and 49 seconds.

Strong International Competition

The event featured athletes from more than 20 countries, bringing together some of the world’s leading strength competitors.

Nooh Butt’s performance earned him the gold medal and added another achievement to his growing list of international successes.

Continued Success in Strength Sports

Nooh Butt is already one of Pakistan’s most accomplished strength athletes, with achievements in weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman competitions.

He gained international recognition at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, where he won a bronze medal in the +105 kg weightlifting category.

Later, he won silver at the Commonwealth Weightlifting Championships and went on to secure qualification for the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Commonwealth Games Gold Medal Moment

His most notable achievement came at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he won Pakistan’s first gold medal of the event in the men’s +109 kg category. His combined lifts included a 173 kg snatch and a 232 kg clean and jerk, setting a total of 405 kg.

Following this success, he was awarded the Pride of Performance in recognition of his achievements in sports.

Transition to Powerlifting and Strongman Events

After facing setbacks in weightlifting due to administrative disputes, Butt shifted focus to powerlifting and strongman competitions.

In 2024, he won gold in the squat category at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships and later set an Asian record by lifting 400 kg in the +120 kg category.

He also achieved further success in strongman events, winning multiple gold medals at international competitions in Uzbekistan in 2024 and 2025.

Another Milestone for Pakistan

His latest victory in the Jalaluddin Sword contest further strengthens his reputation as one of Pakistan’s leading strength athletes and adds another international honour to the country’s sporting achievements.
