Lahore Traffic Police Tighten Helmet Enforcement for Motorcyclists
The Lahore Traffic Police has announced stricter enforcement measures to encourage helmet use among motorcyclists and improve road safety across the city.
Under the updated campaign, riders without helmets will not be permitted to travel on several major roads, including Mall Road, Jail Road, Canal Road and Main Boulevard. Special traffic teams have also been deployed at key entry points to monitor compliance and promote safe riding practices.
According to traffic officials, the initiative is designed to reduce the number of road accidents and minimize serious injuries involving motorcyclists.
Chief Traffic Officer Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said motorcycles represent the largest share of vehicles on Lahore’s roads and are involved in a significant number of traffic incidents each year. He emphasized that improving rider safety remains a top priority for the department.
Traffic police data indicates that head injuries are among the leading causes of fatalities in motorcycle-related accidents. Officials believe that consistent helmet use can significantly reduce the risk of serious injury during road accidents.
Authorities report that ongoing awareness and enforcement efforts have already contributed to a noticeable decline in head trauma cases among riders.
The traffic police stressed that the campaign is focused on public safety and encouraging responsible road behavior. Citizens have been advised to wear helmets regularly, follow traffic regulations and observe lane discipline to help create a safer environment for all road users.
Officials also urged motorcyclists to view helmet use as an essential safety measure rather than simply a legal requirement, highlighting its importance in protecting lives on busy city roads.
The latest initiative reflects Lahore Traffic Police’s broader efforts to improve road safety, reduce accidents and promote responsible driving habits throughout the city.
