LESCO Teams Visit Homes for Electricity Bill Recovery in Lahore
LAHORE: Electricity consumers in several parts of Lahore have reported visits by teams of the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) seeking recovery of outstanding electricity bills.
According to residents, LESCO teams have been visiting homes and informing consumers that their electricity connections could be disconnected if outstanding dues are not paid.
One consumer said officials told him that the company’s approach to bill recovery and disconnection had changed and that field staff had been directed by senior officers to collect pending payments.
The consumer also said that previously, electricity connections were generally disconnected after two consecutive monthly bills remained unpaid.
A LESCO spokesperson acknowledged that mistakes can sometimes occur in meter readings or billing records. However, the spokesperson rejected the impression that the company had intentionally issued inflated bills to consumers across the board.
The spokesperson advised consumers who believe their bills contain errors or incorrect charges to approach their relevant LESCO office for verification and correction before the payment deadline.
Consumers have also been advised to keep their previous bills and meter-related records available when submitting a billing complaint to help resolve the issue.
