FIA Registers FIR Against Two Officials in Afghan Visa Investigation
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has formally registered a First Information Report (FIR) against two of its officials over allegations of misconduct during an investigation related to the Afghan Entry Visa case.
According to official documents, Waseem Ahmad, an FIA officer, was leading the inquiry into the case and had previously obtained the physical remand of a suspect, Zubair Ahmad, through a judicial magistrate in Islamabad.

On the night of July 10–11, 2025, it is alleged that Waseem Ahmad, along with FIA Constable Aqib Mehmood, took the accused out of custody and facilitated a phone call between the accused and his son. During this call, the officials allegedly demanded Rs. 2 million in exchange for favorable treatment during the remand period and a subsequent transfer to judicial custody.
Further concerns were raised when it was reported that sensitive digital evidence, previously seized as part of the investigation, was compromised. Officials allegedly shared passwords with the accused’s son, leading to the deletion of valuable data.
The FIR states that the two FIA personnel misused their official positions for personal gain, a serious violation of internal protocols and legal procedures.
In addition, sources have confirmed that investigations are ongoing into possible involvement of senior officials in the Ministry of Interior’s visa and border management divisions. Reports suggest that the Afghan visa scam, which has been under scrutiny for several years, may have involved improper facilitation and financial irregularities in both visa issuance and renewals.
Law enforcement agencies have reportedly begun reviewing records related to extended visas, amid growing concerns of systemic issues and alleged financial misconduct.
In light of the ongoing inquiry, government sources indicate that a major reshuffle in the Ministry of Interior is being considered to improve governance and restore public confidence.
Authorities continue to emphasize transparency and accountability as the investigation progresses, with further updates expected in the coming weeks.
