The Hundred Women’s Match 8: Northern Superchargers beat Trent Rockets by eight wickets

(Sports Correspondent: Imran Sohail)
Northern Superchargers (Women) secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over Trent Rockets (Women) in Match 8 of The Hundred at Trent Bridge, continuing their perfect start to the season.

Eighteen-year-old Davina Perrin starred with a brilliant 70 off 42 balls, her first half-century in The Hundred and the second-highest score by an uncapped English female player. Perrin’s powerful innings helped Northern Superchargers chase down Trent Rockets’ total of 128 runs comfortably, reaching 129 for 2 in just 79 balls.

Trent Rockets struggled early, losing three wickets for five runs in the first 18 balls. Skipper Ash Gardner fought back with a resilient 61 off 32 balls but lacked support from the rest of the lineup. Their total of 128 felt below par on a good batting surface at the sunlit Trent Bridge.

Northern Superchargers started strong, with Perrin and Alice Davidson-Richards putting on a 62-run opening partnership. Perrin dazzled the crowd with aggressive shots all around the wicket, including a stylish one-handed scoop. Phoebe Litchfield contributed a quick 22 off 10 balls, and Annabel Sutherland finished the chase creatively with a reverse sweep.

Perrin, named Meerkat Match Hero, credited her success to confidence and support from experienced teammates. “I told myself to just have fun,” she said. “The pitch was good, and I could play strong shots. It’s great performing in front of such a crowd and alongside talented players who give me advice.”

With two wins from two matches, Northern Superchargers top the Women’s Hundred table alongside Southern Brave and London Spirit. For Trent Rockets, the search for their first win continues as they remain without a victory in their opening two games.

Match Summary:
Trent Rockets (Women) 128/8 (100 balls)
Northern Superchargers (Women) 129/2 (79 balls)
Result: Northern Superchargers won by 8 wickets
