BMW Championship Returns to Caves Valley with Patrick Cantlay Among Favorites
The BMW Championship is back at Caves Valley Golf Club near Baltimore, Maryland, marking only the second time the event has been held at this venue since 2021. The 2025 edition not only seeks a new champion but also determines which 30 players will advance to next week’s TOUR Championship in Atlanta.
Favorites and Contenders
Patrick Cantlay (+2500), a previous winner at Caves Valley and two-time BMW champion, leads a competitive field of 49 players following the withdrawal of Sepp Straka. Cantlay dazzled in 2021 with 27-under 261, earning 3.644 strokes gained on the greens and ultimately winning after a six-hole playoff. With four top-10 finishes in past BMW Championships, he remains a major contender.
Course Changes
The 2025 course will feel fresh for all players. Caves Valley has been adjusted from a par-72 to a par-70 layout and extended by nearly 60 yards to 7,601 yards. The changes will test golfers both tee-to-green and on the putting surfaces, promising a new challenge for the field.
Other Key Players
Keegan Bradley (+4500) also returns, joining Cantlay as a two-time BMW champion. Bradley, the U.S. Ryder Cup captain, is the defending champion from 2024 and previously won a playoff over Justin Rose at the 2018 BMW Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. With multiple top-10 finishes in his BMW Championship career, Bradley is another favorite to watch.
As the tournament unfolds, all eyes will be on Cantlay, Bradley, and other elite golfers vying for the title and a spot in the TOUR Championship.
