Jaffar Express Targeted Again: Minister Blames India

 Oct 8, 2025

Shikarpur: Four bogies of the Jaffar Express derailed on Tuesday morning following an explosion on the railway track near Humayoon town in Shikarpur district, injuring seven passengers. Fortunately, no fatalities were reported.

The train, traveling from Peshawar to Quetta, was affected by the blast around 8:15 AM, according to Shikarpur Deputy Commissioner Shakeel Ahmed Abro. All injured passengers were immediately transported to Shikarpur Civil Hospital, with four later shifted to the military hospital for further treatment.

The injured include Muhammad Shafique, Muhammad Younis, Hawaldar Javed, Constable Abdul Rahman, Constable Azhar Jameel, and two unidentified passengers. The deputy commissioner confirmed that all injured are now in stable condition and arrangements are being made to safely transport remaining passengers to their destinations. Repair work on the damaged track is currently underway.

This marks the seventh attack on the Jaffar Express this year, starting with the deadliest incident in March, when terrorists killed 21 passengers after hijacking the train.

Federal Minister for Railways, Hanif Abbasi, blamed India for the repeated attacks, alleging that the terrorists are proxies targeting Pakistan due to past military operations. He emphasized that the train’s operations will continue as usual, and security along the track and train will be strengthened.

“The terrorists targeting Jaffar Express repeatedly are proxies of India, unhappy with past defeats. Such cowardly attacks will never stop Pakistan Railways,” Abbasi said, praising the courage of the train crew, drivers, and passengers for continuing their duties despite ongoing threats.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah condemned the attack and requested a police inquiry report, instructing the Larkana commissioner to ensure the best medical care for the injured. Sindh lawmaker Imtiaz Sheikh also visited the Civil Hospital to check on the condition of the affected passengers.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges on Pakistan Railways, but officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining safe and continuous train services across the country.
