Confusion Over Punjab Winter School Timings Leaves Parents, Teachers, and Students Uncertain
October 16, 2025
Confusion gripped schools across Punjab on Thursday after conflicting announcements about winter school timings left students, teachers, and parents uncertain about the new schedules.
According to reports, various District Education Authorities (DEAs) across the province issued separate notifications on Wednesday afternoon, announcing revised winter timings for schools, including new arrival and departure hours for students and staff.
However, later that evening, Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat contradicted those orders, stating on social media that the School Education Department (SED) had not released any official notification regarding the change in school timings.
This sudden contradiction created widespread uncertainty across Punjab’s education system, as many district offices had already communicated the new schedules to schools and teaching staff earlier in the day.
Teachers and parents are now questioning whether the district-issued notifications remain valid or have been overruled by the minister’s clarification.
Many citizens criticized the recurring confusion surrounding school timing changes that occur each winter, calling it a sign of poor coordination between provincial and district education departments.
Parents have urged the authorities to issue a single, clear notification to avoid further disruption in school routines.
